Opera Scenes Rehearsals

This year I will be getting graded on a beautiful opera scenes concert my year in college will be putting together. We’re in the midst of rehearsals as we speak and I though I would take a few minutes to tell you what I’ve been studying.

I did personally ask my professor for extra responsibility, so I’m covering all the other parts should there be an emergency situation on the day, and I’m having such fun working with so many of my colleagues and classmates, and I’m learning so much just by working with different people. I’m all for collaboration!

So the roles I’m learning are Papagena from Mozart’s Die Zauberflote, Pamina from the same opera, Susanna from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Marcelline from Beethoven’s Fidelio, and Cleopatra from Handel’s Giulio Cesare. I’ve studied two of these roles before, Susanna and Marcelline, but the other two are brand new for me, which is super exciting.

There’s nothing I love more than learning new repertoire for performance. I have a really exciting announcement and casting to announce after the Feis Ceoil so make sure you stay tuned for that, I will be travelling this summer though to study and work throughout Europe so make sure you’re subscribed to my email list (and receive my free meditation set for performers!) to be the first to know when I announce it!

Let me know in the comments below if you’ve seen any of these operas and what your thoughts are!

Sending you much love!
